Adventure, Explore, l’appel du vide.
Theres nothing I love more than an adventure, to discover a new place, see it fresh with my own eyes. It’s also one of the reasons I love photography. You could get ten photographers to all take pictures of the same place and each will be completely unique; try a local film photography “walk-around” and you’ll see exactly what I mean. The variety that “street photography” allows is so vast; from Henri Cartier-Bresson and Berenice Abbott through to the likes of Joel Meyerowitz and Brandon Staton (Humans of New York) you’ll find such a wonderful and complex mixture of life through a variety of lenses…
Finding something beautiful and unexpected in the everyday is what I am most passionate about. Colour, contrast, focus, light all play such an important part in this. You can take a photo of the mundane and it look just that, but catch the right light, the time of day, the right film and everything changes.
